MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336- 323 B.C.), silver drachm (4.04 g), Abydos Mint, struck c.310-01 B.C., obv. head of Herakles right, wearing lionskin headdress, rev. Zeus seated left, legs crossed, holding eagle in right hand, MY monogram in left field, I (archaic Z) beneath chair, **ALEXANDROU* to right (Price 1828, SNG Cop 994). Bright, light golden toning in recesses, nearly extremely fine.
