AUGUSTUS, (27 B.C. - A.D. 14), silver denarius, Lyons mint, issued c.8-7 B.C. (3.648 grams), obv. laureate head of Augustus to right, around AVGVSTVS DIVI F, rev. C CAES above and AVGVS F in exergue, C. Caesar galloping to right, with right hand holding reins, left hand a sword and shield, behing Aquila, between two standards, (S.1596, RIC 199, C.40, BMC 500). Attractive gold and grey tone, nearly extremely fine and rare in this condition.

Caius was the grandson of Augustus but he adopted him as his son and heir together with his brother Lucius.
