MAMLUK COINAGE, al-Ashraf Sayf al din Barsabay, (A.H. 825-841) (A.D. 1422-1438), gold ashrafi or dinar, Cairo mint, A.H. 834 = A.D. 1430-1431, (3.396 grams), obv. & rev. four lines of legend divided by three horizontal cables to left, (A.998, Balog 706); together with two imitative fractional gold issues 9-10th century, possibly issues from Yemen, (1.166 and 2.374 grams). First nearly extremely fine and scarce, others very fine. (3).
