EARLY TASMANIA CHEQUES, period 1829-1837, made out on Bank of Van Diemen's Land forms by James Kelly, one dated 27th August 1829 to J. Pugh (a promisory note issuer), Lt. Westbrook, William Briscoe, all for Hobart. Fair - good very fine. (10)

Kelly, James (1791-1859), whaler, pilot and harbourmaster, helped establish the penal settlements in Macquarie Harbour (ADB pp.36-7).
