SICILY, Syracuse, Philistis wife of Hieron II (275-215 B.C.), silver sixteen litrai, (12.932 grams), obv. diademed and veiled head of Philistis to left, behind traces of eight pointed star, rev. quadriga to right driven by Nike with horses walking, above star and **BASILISSAS, to right K, below **FILISTIDOS*, (S.989, SNG ANS 879). Some edge chipping and minor porosity, very fine or better and rare.
