THRACE, Maroneia, (c.189 - 145 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (15.260 grams), obv. head of young Dionysos to right, wreathed with ivy and band across forehead, rev. Dionysos naked standing to left, holding grapes and two narthex wands, to right **DIONUSO[U]*, to left **SWTHROS, below **[MAPWNITWN], monograms to left and right below, (cf.S.1635, Schonert-Geiss 1235 [obv. die 70, rev. die 236], Hunter 15 [p.381 same dies]). Large flan, well centred of good style for these pieces, extremely fine and very rare only five pieces known for this monogram group.
