MACEDON, kingdom of Philip II, (359-336 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (14.216 grams), Pella IIa mint, issued c. 342/1-337/6 B.C., obv. head of Zeus laureate to right, dotted border, rev. naked youth or small man (Philip II), on horseback to right, thunderbolt below, N in exergue, above **FILIP POU*. (S.6680, Le Rider 285, Pl.12, 285 [obv. D159, rev. R226 [p.124]). In high relief, slightly off centred on the reverse, small test gash on reverse, otherwise round with attractive pale grey tone, good very fine and very rare.

Le Rider reports only one example (Leningrad = Hermitage [St. Petersburg]) known. Very likely this is the second known example.
