OCTAVIAN AND JULIUS CAESAR, (assassinated 44 B.C.), AE dupondius, South Italy mint (probably Puteoli), struck 38 B.C.?, (8.796 grams), obv. head of Octavian to right, before, CAESAR, behind DIVI.F rev. wreathed head of Julius Caesar, before DIVOS, IVLIVS behind, (S.465 [£450], Cr.535/1, Syd.1335). Extensively tooled, otherwise nearly extremely fine with good tooled portraits of Caesar and Octavian, rare.
