AUGUSTUS, (27 B.C. - A.D. 14), AE as, Rome mint, issued 6 B.C. by Volusus Valerius Messalla, (10.958 grams), obv. bare head to right of Augustus around [CAESAR AVG]VST PONT MAX TRIBVNIC [POT], rev. VOLVSVS VALER MESSAL III VIR A A A F F around large SC, (S.1688, RIC 441, C.538, CBN 738): together with Tiberius (A.D. 14-37) AE as, issued A.D. 36-37, (9,892 grams), obv. laureate head of Tiberius to left, missing most of obverse legend, rev. winged caduceus with partial legend around, (S.1772, RIC 64, BMC 135). first coin off centred on the obverse with attractive dark brown patina, otherwise good fine and scarce; the seconf coin good/very good. (2)
