MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (17.224 grams), Amphipolis mint, issued 315-294 B..C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, **L* over torch to left, to right **ALEXANDROU, MHG* monogram below throne, (cf.S.6713, Price 447, BMC 447a-e, M.37). Golden tone, well centred, good extremely fine and about as struck.
