THRACE, Island off Thrace, Thasos, (c.after 148 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.998 grams), obv. head of young Dionysos to right, wreathed with ivy and band across forehead, rev. Herakles naked standing to left, holding club, lion skin over left arm, to right **HRAKLEOUS*, to left **SWTHROS, below **FASIWN, M to left, (cf.S.1759, SNG Cop. 1039). Very large flan, well centred of finest style for these pieces, good extremely fine and very rare as fine as this
