SYRIA, Kingdom of, Antiochus VIII, (121-96 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.63 grams), Antioch mint, obv. diademed head of Antiochus VIII to right, fillet border, rev. Zeus Uranius with crescent above standing to left, holding star and sceptre, on right, BASILEOS and ANTIOCOV and to right EPIFANOVS, to left IE over A, to right between figure and inscription N, (cf.S.7143, Newell SMA 367, Hunterian No.8, BMC 10, Houghton ACNAC 322). Extremely fine and scarce.
