C. VIBIUS VARUS, (42 B.C.), silver denarius, Rome mint, (3.924 grams), obv. head of Bacchus, wearing wreath of ivy and grapes to right, rev. [C.]VIBIVS in exergue VARVS to right, panther springing to left, towards garlanded altar on which is a thyrsus and mask (S.496 [£90 VF], Cr.494/36, Syd.1138, B.Vibia 24). Off centred, with attractive dark patina, nearly extremely fine and rare.
