CARAUSIUS, (A.D. 287-293), billon antoninianus, Londinium mint, issued c.A.D.287-293, (3.926 grams), obv. radiate draped and cuirassed bust of Carausius to right, around IMP CARAVSIVS P F AVG, rev. around CONSERVAT AVG, Sol standing facing head to left, holding globe and raising hand, B E left and right of Sol, MLXXI in exergue, (cf.S.3557, RIC 29). Portrait nearly extremely fine, some legend weakness, off centred on the reverse, very rare.
