CHARLES I, (1625-1649), silver gilt Royalist badge, (c.1649-1660), cast very slightly chased with rings for suspension in imitation of engraving, 44x34mm, by Thomas Rawlins but not signed, obv. bust of Charles I to right, hair long in falling lace collar, around CAROLVS D G MAG BRI FR ET HIB RX, rev. incuse Royal arms with the Garter, (M.I 231 and Pl.XXXII, 8; also Num. Chron. (1850) No.XIII, Pl.iii, 20, Eimer 167). Extremely fine and rare.

This Royalist badge one of about forty different types produced between 1649-1660 commemorate the Stuart family and were worn by Royalists who wished to pay tribute, several of the types including this example were gilded.
