FRANCE, Louis XIV, (1643-1715), silver ecu, with cruciform eight L's type, 1690A, Paris mint, overstruck on 1680 Ecu du Parlement type, Rennes mint, obv. bust of Louis XIV to right, rev. cruciform eight L's with crown at each end, (KM.275.1/226.13, Gad.216/209, D.3811/3805). With very strong overstriking with some of the undertype discernable and possibly further undertypes, attractive grey and gold patina, weak in places, otherwise nearly extremely fine/extremely fine and rare.
