FRANCE, Louis XIV, (1643-1715), silver ecu, 1702W, Lille mint, but overstruck on 1693B Rouen mint ecu with crown over circular shield of arms with palms, other evidence of overstriking also apparent, obv. bust of Louis XIV to right, rev. crown over circular shield with crossed scepte and hand of justice, (KM.329.20/298.3, Gad.220/217, D.1316/3813). With evidence of various undertypes, attractive grey and traces of gold patination, nearly extremely fine and very scarce.
