GREECE, Frankish Greece, silver denier tournois, Touraine, imported to Greece from the mint of the Abbey of Saint-Martin of Tours, c.1225/35-1260/1270, (Metcalf 916-920). Nearly very fine, rare.

Metcalf has indicated that the coinage from this Abbey together with other issues regularly turn up in Greece and he has argued that their was this period in the mid 13th century that they were the standard coin of the Frankish states.
