PONTOS, Neocaesarea, Gordian III, (A.D.238-244), AE 30, (13.190 grams), struck year 178 = A.D. 241-2, obv. laureate draped bust of Gordian III to right, around AVK M ANT **GORDIAN*OC, rev. agonistic urn containing palm on table with a palm on side, around **[KOI]P*ONTMH NEOKAICAPI, in exergue [E]T POH, (cf.S.3660, Waddington 53 [p.93, Pl.XIII, 21], Winseman Falghera Colln. 2103). Large and attractive with green patina, good very fine and rare.
