AUGUSTUS AS OCTAVIAN, (27 B.C. - A.D. 14), silver denarius, uncertain Italian mint (probably Brundisium, possibly Rome), issued 29-27 B.C. (3.79 grams), obv. Octavian head bare to right, in linear circle, rev. [I]MP to left, CAESAR to right, naval and military trophy facing, its base crossed with rudder and anchor and set on prow to right, (S.1556 [EF £600], RIC 265a, C.119, BMC 625). Slightly off centred on obverse and weak in places, otherwise good very fine and rare.
