MACEDON, Roman Provincial issue, (c.90-75 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.840 grams), Thessalonica mint, obv. head of Alexander the Great to right, with horn of Ammon and flowing hair, MAKE**[DONW]N*, B reversed behind, rev. AESILLAS / Q above, club between money chest and quaestor's chair, all within olive wreath, (cf.S.1463, De Callatay [p.118, same dies as Obv. 1 rev. 2], SNG Ash. 3302 [same dies], SNG Lockett 1542 [same dies]). Light porosity on portion of reverse, reasonably well centred, otherwise extremely fine and rare in this condition.
