THRACE, Kingdom of, Lysimachus, (323-281 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.546 grams), Alexandria of Troas mint, issued 297/6-282/1 B.C., obv. head of Alexander to right, with diadem and horn of Ammon, within dotted border, rev. Athena enthroned to left, supporting Nike, horse's head in inner left field, eight pointed star on throne, to left **BASILEWS* to right **LUSIMAXOU*, (cf.S.6814, Thompson 149 (Pl.30 same dies), M.-, SNG Cop. -). Well centred and with a high relief, otherwise good very fine and very rare.

The mint appears to have maintained a steady output from 297-281. Production of these tetradrachms however was fairly limited with only about twenty obverse dies used for all varieties (16 different symbol and monogram combinations).
