QUEEN VICTORIA, first type, 1856, the 6 of the date appears to be over a 5. Surface scratches, otherwise slightly worn and well struck, nearly extremely fine, very rare variant that has previously not been reported.
Several dies of 1855 show the second 5 lower in relation to the first 5, this corresponds to the position of the overdate 5 on this coin. The 6 of our coin is placed much higher in relation to the first 5.
Estimate / sale price does not include buyer's premium (currently 22% including GST) which is added to hammer price. All bids are executed on the understanding that the Terms & Conditions of sale have been read and accepted. For information on grading and estimates please refer to the Buying at Auction advice.
