EUBOIA, Chalcis, (338-303 B.C.), silver drachm, (3.482 grams), obv. head of Hera to right, with hair rolled, rev. eagle flying to right carrying snake in talons and beak, lacking symbol [caduceus series, symbol off flan], above X A **[L]*, (cf.S.2482, Picard Emission 30 [p.65-70, Pl.XIV, obverse die 6, reverse o, [This Coin], Lanz BCD Sale Catalogue 111 [lot 178 with similar reverse die, realised 1250 Euros+]). Very fine/good fine and a scarce.

Ex BCD Collection (with his ticket) and previously from the W.P. Wallace Collection No.317. Picard notes only 218 examples of this variety from 38 obverse dies and only this coin from these dies.
