ITALY, Calabria, Tarentum (Taras), (272-235 B.C.), silver stater or nomos, (6.170 grams), obv. naked boy rider crowning stationary horse to left, below AP **ISTIS, below horse an anchor to right, rev. Taras astride a dolphin to left, holding a distaff in left hand and a small Nike in right hand, **[TA]PAS below, (cf.S.374, cf.Vl.819-821, cf.SNG ANS 1158). Very fine.
