SICILY, Gela, (c.430-425 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.842 grams), obv. slow quadriga driven right by male charioteer holding reins, wreath above rev. forepart of man headed bull to right with long beard, branch behind, above **[GE]LAS, (cf.S.795, Jenkins 396, obv. 82, rev. 165 [same dies, notes only four examples known of these dies], SNG ANS 80 [same dies]). Heavy porosity on the reverse and light pitting on the obverse, otherwise nearly very fine and a rare die combination.
