C. COELIUS CALDUS, (c.51 B.C.), silver denarius, Rome mint, (3.270 grams), obv. C. COEL CALDVS before head of the consul C. Coelius Caldus to right, boar lower right, COS below, standard inscribed HIS behind, rev. L.CALDVS III VIR EP on base between two trophies, figure seated above base, CALDVS III VIR in exergue [CALDUS II], (S.404, Cr. 437/2a, Syd.894, B.Coelia 7a). Light porosity, nearly fine/very good and rare.

Ex Peus Sale No.372 (lot 1011 part). Only 33 obverse dies used for all types of denarii of this magistrate.
