GORDIAN III, (A.D. 238-244), AE sestertius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 241-3 (14.93 grams), obv. laureate draped and cuirassed bust of Gordian III to right, around IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, rev. around IOVI STATORI, S C across field, Jupiter standing facing, holding sceptre and thunderbolt, (S.2487, RIC 298, C.111). Light green patina, attractive, very fine or better.
