DIOCLETIAN, (A.D. 284-305), silver argentius, Rome mint, issued A.D. c.295-7 (2.770 grams), obv. laureate head of Diocletian to right, around DIOCLETI ANVS AVG, rev. around VICTORI A SARMAT, A in exergue, the four princes sacrificing over tripod before gate with six turrents and open door, (S.3503 [£300 VF], RIC 37a, RSC 488g). Minor dirt attachment near edge of obverse, otherwise nearly extremely fine and rare.
