EDWARD VIII, 1937, set of four privately issued proof/pattern crowns, New Zealand in (.925) silver, copper, Barton's metal (gold-plated copper) and golden alloy. Obverse features uncrowned head of King sculpted by Donald R. Golding, and based on a combination of the portraits submitted in 1936 by McMillan and Paget. Reverse bears the crowned shield motif used on contemporary currency coinage. Plain edge. One of only 350 sets issued. (4)
