SICILY, Syracuse, (c.475-465 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (17.21 grams), obv. fast walking quadriga driven to right by bearded male charioteer, Nike flying right crowning horses, dotted border, rev. **SUPA KOSI O N around to right, head of Artemis-Arethusa to right, hair slightly waved and turned up behind under diadem of beads, four dolphins around, (cf.S.914, Boehringer 85 same dies (obverse 41/reverse 55 dies), Nanteuil 321 [same dies]). Attractive dark tone with deep blue highlights, very fine and very rare.
Boehringer notes only 4 specimens from these dies.
