SCOTLAND, James VI (1567-1625) revaluation of 1578, crowned thistle countermarked on a 1565 ryal of Queen Mary and Henry Darnley (value 36s 9d) (cf.Spink 5425 and p.62). Evenly worn with grey and gold patina, very fine and rare, countermark good very fine.

Ex John Jay Pittman (lot 3993 US$604) (from Spink March 1951 [$12.60]).
