IRELAND, proof of the pattern shilling, 1927 by Publio Morbiducci, with plain edge, (KM. Pr.6). Steel blue patina, about as struck, nearly FDC and excessively rare.

The National Coinage Competition pattern for the coinage first issued in 1928. It was designed by Publio Morbiducci and minted by Lorioli Castelli in 1927 in Italy produced. An incomplete set with the shilling in cupro nickel was in Spink Auctions (Australia) Sale 30 (lot 1172). See 'W.B.
