CARIA, uncertain mint, (5th century B.C.), silver hemiobol, (0.162 grams), obv. forepart of lion to left, rev. bird (quail) within incuse square to left, (S.-, SNG Berry II 1046 [Asia Minor uncertain], SNG Von Aulock 7808, SNG Keckman 927). Good very fine and very rare.

SNG Berry has an extensive discussion on the type of bird on the reverse, Bellinger believes it to be a bustard, Berry believes it to be a quail, M&M listing describes it as a dove and attribute it to Miletus in Ionia.
