M. VOLTEIUS M.F., (c.78 B.C.), silver denarius, Rome mint, (3.82 grams), obv. head of young Hercules to right, wearing lion skin, rev. the Erymanthian boar running to right, [M.] VOLTEI. M.F. in exergue, (S.-, Cr.385/2, Syd.775, B. Volteia 2). Even grey patina, slightly off centre on the obverse, good very fine/very fine and rare.

Ex. John Quincy Adams and family collection, and Mass. Historical Society Collection, Stacks March 5, 1971 (lot 540) and Dr. John Sawhill Collection and James Madison University Collection, Stack's New York, March 15, 1979 (lot 419 part). Only 20 obverse dies used on this type as calculated by Crawford.
