OCTAVIAN (LATER AUGUSTUS), (43 B.C.), silver denarius, Gallia Cisalpina and Italy mint, (3.40 grams), obv. C. CAESAR IMP, bust of Octavian to right, rev. equestrian statue to left, with right hand raised, trace of S.C. in exergue, (S.445 [£350], Cr.490/1, Syd.1318, C. Augustus 246 [£200]); another (3.08 grams), (42 B.C.), obv. draped bust of Mars to right, spear behind, CAESA[R III] VIR R.P.C. around, rev. S C either sides of legionary eagle surmounted by trophy, standard either side, (S.447 [£275], Cr. 497/3, S.1120, C. Augustus 248 [£130]). Grey patina, nearly fine and rare. (2)
