ONE POUND, Burns Philp and Co. Limited, Thursday Island, Torres Straits, (ruled ink lines to cancel), No 180 not dated but circa 1884, signed J. Burns and entered by F.Waley Serg., imprint W.E.SMITH, SYDNEY., embossed with Queensland Stamp Duty one penny. (see Mira, Cowrie to Kina, pp 41-2). Stained, a few minor perforations and edge tears otherwise fine and excessively rare.

Ex Burns Philp Archive (Lawson's Sale Sydney, 1998). This is the next note to no 179 overprinted Port Moresby P.N.G. (Mira p42) and was a remainder that would have been so overprinted.
