THESSALY, Thessalian League, (196-146 B.C.), silver double victoriatus, (6.244 grams), Larissa mint, obv. head of Zeus to right, crowned with oak leaves, rev. Athena Itonia advancing to right, brandishing spear and holding shield, on sides **QESSAA LWN*, above across **FI LWK* star, in exergue **EPIKRA*, monograms to left and right, (cf.S.2232, BMC 31 [p.3]). Attractive light patina, well centred, extremely fine and desireable.
