CARIA, uncertain mint, (5th century B.C.), silver hemiobol, (0.276 grams), obv. forepart of lion to left, rev. bird (quail) within incuse square to left, (S.-, SNG Berry II 1046 [Asia Minor uncertain], SNG Von Aulock 7808, SNG Keckman 927). Fine/very fine and very rare.

SNG Berry has an extensive discussion on the type of bird on the reverse, Bellinger believes it to be a bustard, Berry believes it to be a quail, M&M listing describes it as a dove and attribute it to Miletus in Ionia.
