GERMANY, Buchenwold Concentration camp, fifty pfennig Wertmarke note Number 26869, variety with slanting M, (Campbell No. 3951b, Stahl cf.Nos. 24 [p.24]). Extremely fine and scarce.
The Wertmarke notes were issued as a reward for good behaviour, diligent work or the completion of special projects. It was used for purchase of 'luxury items' such as cigarettes, extra portions of food or special services.
