SOLD $310

GERMANY-POLAND, Warsaw Ghetto, Issues of the Jewish Government in Warsaw and Jewish Postal Division, five, fifteen, twenty five groszy notes, all printed in blue on hand engraved wood or linoleum plates, claimed as issued in Spring 1941, (Campbell 4246, 4248, 4250, Stahl, No.70, 72, 74, [p.45-46]). Mostly as printed, last with tear at base, otherwise about uncirculated. (3)

These notes were allegedly produced by the Jewish underground in the Spring of 1941. But former residents of the Ghetto do not recall having seen these notes in circulation. Stahl reports Dr H. Fenigstein of Canada, who proposes that these notes are probably issued after the war by swindlers interested in banking on innocent collectors.
