The D.S.C. was awarded whilst serving on H.M.S. Viscount for an attack on a German U-Boat. V.W.Wilson was captain of the Wallabies Rugby Union Team which was to tour England in 1939. When Britain declared war on Germany, the Rugby team managers went to London for a conference with the British officials, at which time it was decided to abandon the tour. The manager Dr Wally Mathews, decided that having travelled to England together as a team they should all return together, however the team captain, Vay Wilson, who had arranged post-graduate education studies at the end of the tour stayed behind. All medals are unnamed but attributable to Sub Lt.V.W.Wilson R.N.V.R. With newspaper clipping and telegrams.
