EGYPT, Kingdom of, Ptolemy I (323-283 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (15.524 grams), issued 310-305 B.C., obv. head of Alexander to right with horn of Ammon, clad in elephant skin and aegis, dotted border, rev. **ALEXANDROU on left, Athena Alkidemos to right with spear and shield, monograms HP on right, star on left, below lower right an eagle above a helmet, (cf.S.7750, Sv.174, Zervos issue 26, SNG Cop. 28). Light scratches on both sides, punchmark on cheek, with attractive grey patina, horn silver both dides, otherwise very fine and rare.
