(JOHN WARD - METROPOLITAN MUSEUM), the property of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Part I Roman Gold Coins; Part II Greek Coins from the John Ward Collection, sold by Sotheby's in the auction held in Zurich Part I November 10 1972, 345 lots, colour plate, every coin illustrated throughout catalogue with additional 7 plates; Part II 4th and 5th April 1973, 773 lots, 2 colour plates, 31 B/W plates. Very fine, hard bound and both rare. (2)

These sale catalogues are from one of great collections held in the United States and that sale of ancient Roman gold and silver Greek coins make it one of the great sale of the 1970's. The Greek collection was illustrated in Hill's book 'Greek Coins and their Parent Cities'.
