IONIA, Ephesos, (c.540 B.C. Karwiese dating), silver drachm, (3.55 grams), obv. bee with tendrils, volute in upper fields, rev. quadripartite incuse square, (cf.S.3517, SNG Von Aulock 1826, Karwiese Group VI). Off centred on obverse, very irregular flan, otherwise very fine and very rare.
