LYCIA, Cragus, (31-25 B.C.), AE 16, (2.46 grams), obv. bust of Artemis to right, with quiver on shoulder, **LU* before, rev. quiver with strap, K P border of dots, (cf.S.5275, Weber Collection 7262 [This Coin, p.557, Pl.260], Hyla A.Troxell 'The Coinage of the Lycian League' 1982, series D No.205 [This Coin listed], SNG Von Aulock 8488, SNG Cop. 67 [refers to this coin]). Brown patina, good very fine, rare.
Ex. Sir Hermann Weber Collection and published by Spink & Son, 1922 'The Weber Collection', illustrated (No.7262), stated in catalogue as acquired from the George Sim sale at Sotheby's London, 23-27 June 1890 (lot 353 part, described); then sold to Virgil Brand c.1923 who passed in to his niece Jane Brand Allen, sold Sotheby's London October 25, 1984 (lot 330).
