John Cleland Malcolm was the 3rd son of John Malcolm of 'Brechin Park' of Newtown, migrated from Angus in Scotland arriving as a migrant on 'Triton' in 1824. He had served as a surgeon's mate on H.M.S. Hobart 1.7.1797 - 30.6.1799.
