GEORGE III, Resolution and Adventure medal 1772, in platina (brass) by Mathew Boulton (BF on truncation) (44mm) (M.H.373;BHM 165). Struck from the first (or cracked reverse die. Suspension ring missing and pierced for wear, very fine and rare.

Ex. Noble Numismatics Sale 50 (lot 874). These medals from the first die were distributed to the natives by Captain James Cook on his second voyage. They were produced under the direction of Sir Joseph Banks.
