TASMANIAN POULTRY SOCIETY, 1859, hand engraved in silver (66mm) in two convex silver discs (51mm) joined by a plain surround ring as a hollow medallion, an intricately worked snake surrounds the whole piece with a fixed ring through the snake's mouth at the top to which is attached a bar suspension for a ribbon for wearing. Reverse inscribed 'Presented by Mr T.Wimbush / to the / Tasmanian Poultry Society / for Competition / and awarded to / Mr John Howe / for the best pen of / Game Fowls / July 1859'. This finely engraved and decorated medal is not hallmarked. Nearly extremely fine and probably unique.
