SEPTIMIUS SEVERUS, (A.D.193-211), silver denarius, (3.23 grams), issued 206, Rome mint, obv. laureate head right, around SEVERVS PIVS AVG, rev. around VOTA SVSCEPTA XX, Severus, togate, standing right sacrificing over a tripod altar, lictor standing facing the emperor on right holding rod, flute player stands behind altar accompanying the sacrifice, (S.6394, RIC 309, RSC 794). Flan cracks, deeply toned, very fine and very rare.

An interesting reverse type depicting the flute player accompanying the imperial sacrifice. Only one specimen in the Reka Devnia hoard.
